January 16, (THEWILL) – The member representing Fagge Federal constituency in Kano State, Muhammad Bello Shehu, has disbursed the sum of N1,750,000 to seven indigenous graduates of law, who have secured admission into the Nigerian Law School.
Each of the beneficiaries received the sum of N250,000 from the lawmaker at an event held in Fagge Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Shehu, while presenting the money, said he decided to dole out the grant to the newly admitted law students in order to support them in undergoing the programme without facing any financial difficulties that could lead to failure.
According to him, the money would assist the beneficiaries to concentrate on their study in order to complete the one-year legal programme successfully.
He said he initially decided to give them N200,000 each but considered the economic situation in the country and increased the amount to N250,000 to enable them to undergo their studies smoothly.
The lawmaker charged the beneficiaries to study and pray hard in order to finish the programme at once without failing the examination which could cause them to register again.
He said he had so far spent over N50 million as education support to his constituents, adding that the scholarship would be a continuous one.
“Let me also urge you to be honest when you graduate and start practising. You should consider legal practice as an opportunity to serve humanity. Don’t also forget your younger ones and the elderly too. Help them in whatever way you feel you can.
“We decided earlier to give you N200,000 but I later increased it to N250,000 because I know how the situation is.
“You should study hard, read hard and be prayerful. If you graduate and start practising, don’t forget your people, don’t forget your constituency.
“Sometimes you would even come down to help us. I pray for you to succeed,” he said.
All the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture. According to them, the lawmaker’s gesture had not been limited to his constituency as he extended it to other areas, owing to his commitment to the development of education in the state.
