August 24, (THEWILL) — Nigerian singer, Alexander Adelabu, popularly known as Magixx, has announced the death of his mother, Esther, on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
The 26-year-old Mavin Records artiste shared the news in an emotional tribute on social media, alongside photos of himself and other family members at her graveside. He said he was struggling to accept the reality of her death.
“I have never felt pain like this, never been this lost”, he wrote, adding that he was still processing the loss and finding it difficult to believe she was gone.
Magixx recalled how his mother had spent the last six years fighting for her family, friends and even strangers while remaining cheerful despite her illness.
He described her as free-spirited, witty and kind, saying her personality naturally drew people to her.
Recalling their close relationship, the singer described his mother as his “reason”, “guardian”, “twin” and “everything”.
He said he was proud to have her as his mother and would choose her “again and again” in every lifetime, while lamenting that nobody could take her place.

Magixx ended the tribute with a message of hope, saying he believed their separation was not goodbye and that they would meet again.
The singer had previously spoken about how his mother’s health struggles influenced his music.
In a 2024 interview, Magixx revealed that his song “Okay” was largely inspired by the pain he experienced while watching his mother battle illness. He said about 60 percent of the song was connected to her health and the emotional pressure he was experiencing at the time.
The singer joined Mavin Records in 2021 and has since released projects including his self-titled “Magixx” EP, “ATOM” and his debut album, “I Dream in Colour”. His notable songs include “Love Don’t Cost a Dime”, “All Over” and “Okay”.
The announcement has since drawn condolences from fans and members of the music industry, who have continued to offer their support to Magixx following the loss.
