September 22, (THEWILL) – Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris has set a Guinness World Records title for the largest attendance for a DJ set by a single artist, after performing for an estimated 1.6 million people in São Paulo, Brazil.
Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement after Harris’ performance on February 8, 2026, during a free pre-Carnival street event on Rua da Consolação.
Harris performed from a moving carnival float as thousands of fans packed the street. He wore a Brazil football shirt with “Calvinho” printed on the back while playing some of his biggest hits.
The set included ‘This Is What You Came For’, ‘One Kiss’, ‘I Need Your Love’ and ‘We Found Love’, among other popular songs from his catalogue.
The huge turnout led to the closure of Rua da Consolação, while some fans reportedly fainted in the heat.
Guinness World Records also noted that the crowd was comparable in size to the estimated 1.6 million people who attended Madonna’s free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro in 2024, although the two events fall under different record categories.
Harris celebrated the achievement on Instagram, sharing a photo of his Guinness certificate and describing the event as a “truly insane day”.

The milestone adds to several records Harris has achieved over the years. In 2014, Guinness World Records recognised him for having the most UK Top 10 singles from one album after ‘18 Months’ produced nine Top 10 hits.
The Dumfries-born DJ is also known for global hits such as ‘Summer’, ‘Feel So Close’, ‘Promises’ with Sam Smith and ‘Feels’ with Pharrell Williams, Big Sean and Katy Perry. ‘One Kiss’ with Dua Lipa and ‘We Found Love’ with Rihanna both topped the UK Singles Chart, while ‘Summer’ also reached No. 1.
Guinness World Records officially confirmed the latest title in September, months after the São Paulo performance.
Harris’ latest achievement adds another record to a career that has included major chart success and performances before some of the world’s biggest audiences.
