August 23, (THEWILL) — Veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died after battling stage-four cancer.
The 66-year-old actor died on Sunday after his health deteriorated in recent weeks.
The development was followed by an emotional livestream involving one of Ogogo’s daughters, Kira Taiwo, who was seen crying profusely as she struggled to come to terms with her father’s death.
Kira was heard saying: “I need to call my sisters. I need to call my family. My daddy is dead, sir. I don’t believe them. I can’t take it. I want to go home, Mommy! I want to go see my daddy before he gets buried.”
People around her were heard trying to calm her as she continued to cry.
Ogogo’s death comes days after his family revealed that he was battling stage-four cancer and urgently needed medical attention.
His daughters had appealed for help in finding appropriate medical care, saying the family only recently became aware of the seriousness of his condition.

The appeal attracted support from Nigerians and members of the entertainment industry. Veteran actor Jide Kosoko also said hundreds of people had offered to assist with Ogogo’s treatment.
Ogogo was one of the leading figures in Yoruba-language cinema. He began his acting career in the 1980s and established himself as an actor, filmmaker and director.
He was particularly known for his performances in Yoruba films, including the popular movie Owo Blow.
His death has triggered an outpouring of grief from fans, colleagues and other members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Further details about his death and burial arrangements are expected from the family and management.
