September 22, (THEWILL) – American singer Lionel Richie has been hospitalised again after experiencing another heart issue, according to TMZ.
The 77-year-old is receiving treatment for atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition that causes an irregular heartbeat.
TMZ reports that doctors are treating him with an AFib ablation, a minimally invasive procedure that blocks faulty electrical signals in the heart to help restore a regular rhythm.
The latest health scare has forced Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire to cancel their next three shows on their ‘Sing a Song All Night Long’ tour.
The affected dates are September 26 in San Francisco, September 30 in Chicago and October 2 in Columbus, Ohio.
This marks Richie’s third reported hospitalisation in three months.

In August, he checked himself into a St. Louis hospital after performing at The Muny.
He spent three days undergoing cardiac tests and was discharged on September 2.
The August hospital stay followed another health scare in June, when Richie became dizzy and felt unwell during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota.
He cut the performance short and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The incident also led to the postponement of two tour dates.
Richie recently made his first public appearance since his August hospitalisation. He was seen at a dinner in Beverly Hills with his girlfriend, Lisa Parigi, on September 19.
TMZ reports that Richie is currently receiving medical care. The singer has not publicly commented on the latest hospitalisation.
