FG Vows To Continue Fight Against Terrorism, Condoles Victims Of Kaduna Bombing

December 06, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has vowed that the unintentional killing of civilians in an airstrike by the Nigerian Army in Kaduna State will not stop the fight against insurgency and terrorism.

Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, gave the assurance on Wednesday, in Kaduna.

A statement by Henshaw Ogubike, the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, said Matawalle, together with the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Ibrahim Kana, led a high-level delegation to the State to convey the Federal Government’s sympathies to the victims.

THEWILL had reported that scores of villagers celebrating Maulud were killed and several others injured in an aerial bombardment in Tudun Biri community, Ligarma village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna on Sunday night.

Denouncing the tragedy, Matawalle, however, assured that the tragedy will not dissuade the administration from fighting terrorism.

“We are not going to relent in our fight against terrorism because these criminals must be defeated. We are going to continue fighting the criminals till we succeed against banditry and other criminalities in this country,” he said.

Matawalle, who was also at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna, where the injured victims were being treated, stated that the visit was on President Bola Tinubu’s instruction.

He assured of the Federal Government’s commitment to assisting the victims’ families.

Matawalle also disclosed that the government would constitute a panel of inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
