September 14, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian equities market opened the new trading week on a positive note, with the benchmark index and market capitalisation advancing despite a broader decline in individual stocks.

The All-Share Index (ASI) rose by 246.50 points from its opening level of 243,052.74 to close at 243,299.24, representing a gain of 0.10 percent. Similarly, market capitalisation increased by ₦160 billion, from ₦157.587 trillion to ₦157.747 trillion.

However, market breadth remained negative, with 21 gainers against 29 decliners, indicating cautious investor sentiment despite the overall market advance.

Top Gainers

ROYALEX gained 10.00 percent (₦0.90 to ₦0.99).

NGXGROUP gained 10.00 percent (₦148.00 to ₦162.80).

RTBRISCOE advanced 9.88 percent (₦8.10 to ₦8.90).

NSLTECH rose 7.69 percent (₦0.65 to ₦0.70).

PRESTIGE appreciated 7.19 percent (₦1.39 to ₦1.49).

Top Decliners

JOHNHOLT  fell by 10.00 percent (₦9.00 to ₦8.10).

DAARCOMM declined by 9.80 percent (₦1.53 to ₦1.38).

ELLAHLAKES shed 9.80 percent (₦10.20 to ₦9.20).

REGALINS dropped by 8.97 percent (₦0.78 to ₦0.71).

LEARNAFRCA slipped 8.67 percent (₦9.00 to ₦7.90).

Market

MTN Nigeria Communications, Dangote Cement, Seplat Energy, Julius Berger Nigeria, Vitafoam Nigeria and Unity Bank were among the stocks that closed flat for the day.

The session reflected a mixed trading picture, with the benchmark index and market capitalisation posting modest gains while declining stocks outnumbered gainers, pointing to continued selective buying and cautious positioning by investors.
