March 19, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday, declared the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umo Eno, as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.
Eno was declared the winner on Sunday, in Uyo, the State capital, by the Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Emmanuel Adigio.
Eno polled 354,348 to defeat his closest rivals, Akanimo Udofia of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 129,602 votes and Labour Party (LP)’s Uduakobong, who got 4,746 votes.
Eno won in 29 out of the 31 Local Government Areas in the state.
According to Adigio, the total number of registered voters in the State was 2,357,418 out of which 657,959 representing about a quarter, were accredited for the exercise, while the total valid votes cast was 656,422 and rejected votes were 12,342.
