When results have already been publicly announced, documented, and aggregated by independent observers and media organizations, it becomes more difficult for any attempt to alter them to succeed. Public awareness of the results strengthens INEC’s ability to resist undue pressure and uphold the integrity of the process.

Apart from its mandatory nature, the law also say that the display is also to enable INEC to accept and consider objections and complaints in relation to the names omitted or included in the voters’ register or in relation to any necessary correction, within 14 days after displaying the voters' register in accordance with this section.
