December 19, (THEWILL) – No fewer than five hundred and sixty-seven supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Gagi ward, Sokoto South Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

This came to the fore at an event, organised by officials of APC SAK, an association formed with a view to canvassing for votes to the party in the state for the general elections in February 2023.

The event, witnessed by hundreds of APC supporters in Gagi ward, also featured the welcoming of the defectors to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking, the association’s chairman, Ahmad Rufai, said the area is facing a number of problems begging for attention.

This he said includes perennial water shortage, lack of drainage system, as well as the low current of power supply in the area.

“We record serious flooding each time it rains because of the lack of a good drainage system”, the chairman added.

He appealed to APC governorship candidates to look into the said challenges if elected in the February polls.

He added that the APC-SAK association has trained a sizable number of women on various trades to make them self-reliant.

Responding, the state APC governorship candidate Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, assured that his administration will look into the said problems if elected.

He added that infrastructural development will receive the needed attention to ensure a new Sokoto state.

“Sokoto state requires more infrastructural development than it has”, he added.

He appealed to APC supporters in the state to redouble their efforts and ensure the party’s victory in the February elections. He also thanked the people of Gagi for the warm reception accorded him.
