August 19, (THEWILL) — The public fallout between Afrobeats stars Davido and Wande Coal began on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, after Davido spoke about their unreleased collaboration on Wande Coal’s hit song, “Come My Way”.
The song was released by Wande Coal in 2021, with a snippet of Davido’s recorded verse later circulating online. However, the collaboration was never officially released, and Wande Coal eventually put out the song as a solo track.
How the beef started
The dispute began after Davido discussed the unreleased collaboration during an appearance on The Uncut Podcast and explained why his version with Wande Coal was never released.
Davido said Wande Coal approached him for the collaboration and that he recorded a “stupid hard” verse for what he understood to be the original song.
However, he said he pulled out after learning that Wande Coal planned to release the solo version first and add his verse later as a remix.
According to Davido, he had not recorded his verse with a remix in mind.
Wande Coal later disputed Davido’s account on X, arguing that the song already had a release plan and date.
“Carry song come give you as how? Song wey been get release plan and date!!! Song wey no be your own you wan dictate release plan”, he wrote.
He also suggested that “Come My Way” performed well without Davido’s contribution.
Sardines and Beggars: The Insults Exchanged Between Davido and Wande Coal
The disagreement soon moved beyond the unreleased collaboration as both singers exchanged personal insults on social media.
Davido called Wande Coal “No vex Mr Little D!ck” and “Na small sardine” in his responses, while Wande Coal fired back with the phrase “Mr Toto Beggar”.
The exchange quickly drew attention online, with fans revisiting the history between the two singers and the unreleased collaboration.
Davido later addressed the matter during an interview with News Central TV, maintaining that he did not believe he had said anything wrong when he first discussed the song. He also described Wande Coal’s reaction as childish.
He reiterated that he recorded his verse for the original song and did not want it to be held back for a remix.
“We recorded the song as an original song, and he wanted to drop it as a remix, but I didn’t want that. I didn’t record it as a remix.”
Davido also claimed that Wande Coal had been trying to get his attention for about a year and had asked for his phone number two weeks before the dispute.
“Wande has been looking for my attention for the past year. He even asked for my number two weeks ago, and I told them not to give him. He is just acting like a baby; he will be fine.”
Despite the tension, Davido acknowledged Wande Coal’s influence on his career and said he was one of the artists he looked up to while growing up.
“Wande was one of the artists I looked up to growing up. I know it’s painful to see someone come and overtake you, but Wande will be fine.”

Davido added to the dispute by sharing a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation on X.
The screenshot appears to show a mutual contact asking Davido for his phone number on Wande Coal’s behalf.
Davido said the screenshot supported his claim that Wande Coal had been trying to reach him before their disagreement became public.
Wande Coal responded by questioning why Davido had not shared the full conversation.
“I wonder why you no post the full chat, asked for your number 2 weeks ago, how??? WHO YOU EPP?” he wrote.
He also dismissed Davido’s claim that he had been seeking his attention, saying he had “passed the baton” to a new generation of artistes.
“I passed the baton to the next generation of talented artists not you talentless fool, keep capping on National TV”, Wande added.

DJ Tunez Weighs In
The dispute also drew a reaction from DJ Tunez, a close associate of Wizkid.
DJ Tunez appeared to side with Wande Coal, telling Davido to leave music matters to the musicians.
“No whine Wande Coal ooo! Leave music for the musicians,” he wrote on X.
Carter Efe also weighed in on the dispute. During a livestream, he warned Wande Coal against insulting Davido, whom he referred to as his “helper.”
“Wande Coal don’t insult my helper o. No go dey insult Davido, they go find you for Lagos o,” Carter Efe said.
His comment added another layer to the ongoing dispute and sparked further reactions online.

For now, the disagreement remains centred on the unreleased “Come My Way” collaboration, with Davido and Wande Coal offering different accounts of why the song was never released.
