SAN FRANCISCO, June 14, (THEWILL) – Embattled governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, is presently meeting with the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike.
Sources say the meeting might not be unconnected with Obaseki’s planned defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the Edo state gubernatorial election billed for September 19 under the party.
THEWILL had reported that Obaseki had begun talks with the PDP to negotiate a possible defection and how he can obtain the party’s ticket after it became clear that he has been rejected by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The deal with the PDP was brokered by former President Goodluck Jonathan but some PDP leaders were said to be against the conditions.

Meeting Wike, who is a strong financier and vocal leader in the PDP, is seen as a move by Obaseki to seal the deal and get a safe landing in the PDP.
