July 30, (THEWILL) – Amidst mounting speculation surrounding the future of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, Saudi Professional League side Al-Hilal have reportedly made a substantial bid to Napoli for the 24-year-old.

Osimhen, who played a pivotal role in Napoli’s triumphant season, scoring 31 goals and securing a first Scudetto in 33 years, has been the subject of transfer rumours since the beginning of the window. On the back of his impressive performance, the capocannoniere has expressed interest in an improved contract.

This has coincided with Al-Hilal’s initial £130m offer which has been swiftly rejected by Napoli, who currently value the player at around £200m. While Osimhen’s outstanding form has garnered attention from clubs worldwide, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has publicly affirmed the club’s stance of retaining the striker. Napoli is diligently working towards a long-term contract extension with Osimhen, further solidifying his pivotal role within the team.

This commitment from the club leaves Al-Hilal facing uncertainty in their pursuit, as their previous interest in Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe was met with disinterest from the Frenchman, prompting a shift in focus to Osimhen. As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on Napoli and Al-Hilal’s negotiations.

Osimhen’s value and the resounding success he achieved last season have made him a prized asset for Napoli, making it clear that the club’s determination to retain him is unwavering. Al-Hilal, on the other hand, will need to reconsider their approach and potentially improve their offer significantly if they seriously desire to acquire the services of the Super Eagles striker.
