September 28, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ambassador Haruna Ginsau from Jigawa state, as the Board chairman of the North West Development Commission (NWDC).
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, also disclosed the appointment of Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji from Kano State, as MD/CEO of the Commission.
Other nominees appointed as members of the NWDC Board include Dr Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto), Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara), Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna), Hon. Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), Nasidi Ali (Jigawa)
All the appointments are subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
President Tinubu had on July 24, signed the North West Development Commission Establishment Bill into law.
The NWDC will focus on catalysing significant growth, economic empowerment, and social development of the region.
“President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to supporting the NWDC in its mission to bring sustainable development to the North West is steadfast”, Onanuga said.
