September 28, (THEWILL) – Borussia Dortmund staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Bochum 4-2 in a thrilling Bundesliga match on Friday. The home side overcame a two-goal deficit, with Serhou Guirassy scoring twice to lead the charge.
Dortmund found themselves in trouble early on, conceding goals to Matus Bero and Dani de Wit within the first 21 minutes. However, Guirassy began the fightback just before half-time, heading in a cross from Julian Brandt. The striker continued to cause problems for Bochum’s defence, winning a penalty which captain Emre Can converted to level the score.
Guirassy then put Dortmund ahead in the 75th minute, followed by Felix Nmecha sealing the victory six minutes later via a Karim Adeyemi assist. The win gives Dortmund 10 points from five games, while Bochum remain near the bottom of the table with just one point.
Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin acknowledged the team’s resilience, stating: “We got hit early but we stayed clear in our minds. It is a process and we spoke about it. We concede a third and things go belly up pretty quick, but sometimes you need to suffer to learn.”
The result provides a much-needed boost for Dortmund following their 5-1 defeat to Stuttgart last week. Attention now turns to Saturday’s match between reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen and previous serial Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich.
