September 03, (THEWILL) — American music legend, Lionel Richie, has returned home to Los Angeles after spending three days in a St. Louis hospital following a health scare during a concert.
Richie, 77, checked himself into the hospital after performing at The Muny in St. Louis on August 29. He was admitted for medical tests after appearing unwell toward the end of the show.
During the concert, Richie reportedly needed a chair while performing his final song, “All Night Long.” Video from the performance showed the singer sitting for part of the song as he completed the show.
Richie was initially reported to be undergoing tests for possible mild dehydration. Later reports said doctors also conducted tests related to possible cardiac concerns. No specific cardiac diagnosis has been publicly confirmed.
After three days under medical care, Richie was discharged on Wednesday, September 2, and returned to Los Angeles.
People reported that the singer is “doing great” following the hospital stay.

The incident follows another health scare in June, when Richie became dizzy during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was unable to complete the performance, and two subsequent tour dates were postponed.
Richie is currently performing on the Sing a Song All Night Long tour alongside Earth, Wind & Fire. The tour brings together two major acts whose music has remained popular across several generations.
Richie has also remained active beyond music. He has served as a judge on American Idol since 2018, alongside fellow judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan during several seasons of the show.
Following his discharge, Richie is now resting at home in Los Angeles as fans await further updates on his health and touring schedule.
