September 01, (THEWILL) — Lionel Richie has been hospitalized in an intensive care unit in St. Louis after performing in the city over the weekend.
The 77-year-old singer checked himself into a local hospital after his Saturday, August 29, performance at The Muny in Forest Park as a precaution, according to TMZ. Sources say he is being evaluated for possible slight dehydration.
A source close to Richie also told Rolling Stone that the singer is going to be OK.
Richie reportedly appeared to struggle toward the end of the performance. During his final song, “All Night Long,” he asked his team to bring him a chair and finished the performance while seated.
Richie is currently on his “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.
His next scheduled performance is September 26 in San Francisco, although it has not been confirmed whether his hospitalization will affect his upcoming shows.

The latest health scare comes about two months after Richie fell ill during a June 24 concert at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota, on the opening night of the tour.
During that performance, Richie told the audience that he was feeling dizzy before cutting the show short. Paramedics met him backstage and took him to a hospital by ambulance.
He later postponed two shows on his doctors’ advice to rest and recover.
Richie returned to the stage on June 30 and later assured fans that he was doing well.
