September 02, (THEWILL) — Nollywood director, Moses Inwang, has weighed in on the Okoye family feud, defending Jude Okoye’s role in the formation and success of P-Square.
Speaking during a recent appearance on The Echoo Room podcast, Inwang said Nigerians often focus on their favourite artistes while overlooking the people who work behind the scenes to build their careers.
“I don’t know why Nigerians are of the opinion that their fav is the alpha and omega”, he said, using Banky W’s early investment in Wizkid as an example.
According to Inwang, Banky W took a major financial risk on Wizkid when the singer was still unknown. He argued that the agreement giving Banky W a significant share of Wizkid’s first album should be considered in the context of the financial risk he took at the time.
Turning to the P-Square dispute, Inwang insisted that Jude was central to building the group.
“Jude, one hundred percent founded the group called P-Square, I know this for a fact”, he said.
Inwang acknowledged that Peter and Paul were already making music together, but said Jude recognised their potential, gave the group structure and handled the business side of their career. He also recalled that Jude was already an established movie producer before becoming closely involved with the brothers’ music.
“Jude is the administrator of the group. He is the one that does the business part, and that is important too”, he added.
The director also revealed that he had a three-hour meeting with Peter Okoye before the singer released his allegations against Jude.
According to Inwang, Peter presented documents during the meeting that shocked him. He said he later told Jude that, based on what Peter had shared, he could face jail time.
“I saw evidence that puts Jude in the hot seat”, Inwang said.
However, he made it clear that he did not believe everything Peter said was wrong.
“I’m not saying everything Peter said is wrong, but I was mad when I saw the explanation”, he stated.
After hearing the different sides of the dispute, Inwang said he believes Jude is “to a large extent innocent” of the accusations against him.

He also questioned the criticism surrounding Jude’s share of P-Square’s earnings, saying the brothers had an agreement stating that the group’s earnings would be shared equally.
“They had a document that says that they would share things equally. I don’t know why Nigerians are saying, ‘Why Jude go dey collect more money?’” he said.
Inwang urged the public to consider contracts, agreements and other available evidence when discussing entertainment disputes instead of relying solely on emotional reactions online.
The Okoye family feud has played out publicly for years. Peter and Paul first split in 2017 following disagreements over their music and management before reuniting in 2021. Their relationship later broke down again in 2024.
The latest dispute has focused on money, royalties and Jude’s role in managing the group, with Peter making allegations against Jude and Paul, while Jude has denied the claims.
Inwang’s comments highlight the business side of Nigeria’s entertainment industry and the role of managers, producers and investors who often take financial risks before artistes become household names.
