August 25, (THEWILL) — Nigerian singer and songwriter, Johnny Drille, has revealed that he met his wife, Rima Tahini, through Mavin Records, where they both worked.
Tahini is the Director of Artists and Repertoire (A&R) at Mavin Records, where Drille has built his music career. The singer had previously revealed that she was his first girlfriend and that they met in 2018 after he joined the label.
Drille made the revelation during an interview on “At His Right Hand”, where he opened up about their relationship and how they managed to keep it private for years.
According to the singer, they started dating around November or December 2018 but kept their relationship away from the public until July 2023.
“I met my wife at Mavins. It wasn’t easy, funny when I think about it now, and I just realised how much work we had to put in. We had to keep it under wraps for so long”, he said.
“We started dating in November, December of 2018. The rest of the world only got to know in July 2023. That’s almost five years after. I had gotten married like a year and seven months after that. It wasn’t easy keeping it under wraps, but I’m grateful.”
The couple got married privately on January 5, 2022, but their marriage remained away from the public until July 2023, when Drille and Mavin boss, Don Jazzy, shared pictures from their wedding.
