August 17, (THEWILL) — Big Brother Naija has seen housemates leave the competition in different ways, including through eviction, disqualification and voluntary exit.

While most contestants stay until they are evicted or reach the finale, a few have chosen to leave the show on their own.

A voluntary exit means a housemate chooses to leave the competition before being evicted or reaching the finale, often because of mental health concerns, personal circumstances or physical health issues that may require attention outside the house. Once they leave, they can no longer compete for the season’s grand prize.

Gbolahan Ololade, popularly known as Kayvee, became the first BBNaija housemate to voluntarily leave the main show.

He joined Season 6, titled ‘Shine Ya Eye’, in 2021 but left after about a week in the house on medical grounds.

According to the show’s organisers, Kayvee consulted with Big Brother and the on-site medical team before he was advised to leave for further medical evaluation.

After his exit, Kayvee revealed that he had experienced severe anxiety and struggled with the isolation and adjustment to life inside the house. He said he had underestimated the mental strain of the experience.

Sabrina Idukpaye became the second housemate to voluntarily leave the main Big Brother Naija show.

She participated in Season 10, titled ‘10/10’, in 2025.

Sabrina announced her exit after experiencing health problems that affected her ability to take part in activities in the house. She had also complained of leg pain shortly before her departure.

The show’s organisers confirmed that she had consulted with the medical team and was advised to leave for further medical evaluation.

The specific nature of her medical condition was not officially disclosed.

Chinaecherem Maduagwu, popularly known as Neche, became the third housemate to voluntarily leave the main Big Brother Naija show.

She was competing in Season 11, titled ‘Show Ya Sef’, in 2026, and was serving as Head of House when she decided to leave.

Neche announced her decision shortly after the live eviction show on August 16, 2026. She told the other housemates she was leaving for personal reasons before removing her microphone and name tag and heading to the Diary Room.

Unlike the previous two voluntary exits, Neche’s departure was not publicly linked to a medical issue. Big Brother’s organisers said she left because of pressing personal matters.

Her decision was particularly unexpected because she was still serving as Head of House. By leaving, Neche also gave up the immunity attached to the position.
