September 03, (THEWILL) — An old interview clip of Nigerian music star Davido has resurfaced, showing him recounting how he helped his father, billionaire businessman Chief Adedeji Adeleke, connect with the World Bank president.
The clip is from Davido’s May 2023 media run for his Timeless album. During an interview with Atlanta-based Real 92.3 FM, the singer shared the story while reflecting on some of the most memorable moments of his career.
According to Davido, his father had been trying for years to get a meeting with the World Bank president. Despite his extensive network and connections, he said his father had been unable to reach the World Bank boss.
The situation changed after Davido had a chance encounter with the World Bank president at a hotel following his performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Davido said the official recognised him and told him he had enjoyed his performance before introducing himself as the World Bank president.
Realising who he was, Davido said he immediately brought out his phone and called his father.

Davido said the unexpected introduction allowed his father to establish direct contact with the World Bank president.
The singer described the moment as one of the most defining moments of his life, recalling how a chance meeting at a hotel led to the connection.

The clip, originally shared in 2023 during his Timeless album press run, has now resurfaced online, bringing renewed attention to the singer’s account of the unexpected encounter.
