August 18, (THEWILL) — Afrobeats star Davido has recalled a lavish experience with a wealthy Lebanese family who flew him and his 15-member team to Lebanon, saying they went all out to welcome them.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Uncut Podcast, Davido said the family were huge fans of his music and invited him and his entourage to Lebanon.
He said the family paid for their flights and accommodation and booked a $36,000-per-night room for him, along with rooms for members of his team.
The singer said they also spent $50,000 on dinner before gifting him an Audemars Piguet watch.
But the biggest surprise, according to Davido, was what they did for his staff.
He revealed that every member of his 15-person team received a Rolex watch.
He stated, “ I met a Lebanese family in Dubai or Lagos, but I’m not sure. They invited us to Lebanon, and I was like, ‘I’m here with my friends and we’re like 15,’ and he said we shouldn’t worry. They drove us to the plane, flew us to Lebanon, we didn’t even see immigration.
“They paid for our accommodation, booked a $36K-per-night room for me, the presidential suite, and a room for each staff member, spent $50K on dinner, gifted me an AP, and gave every one of my staff a Rolex each. I was blown away. That was one crazy time I was gifted.”
Davido described the experience as one of the most extravagant and unique gifts he and his team have received. He also revealed that he was gifted a Lexus car while discussing some of the most memorable gifts he has received.
Beyond the Lebanon trip, Davido discussed his music, business and personal life during the interview.
On “Oriadé”, the singer said he initially wanted to record the album, release it and fulfil his Sony Music contract. However, his mindset changed once he entered the studio and he became determined to create a quality project.
Davido also revealed that he recorded the album in just two to three weeks.
Unlike his usual studio routine, he said much of the project was recorded at home while his wife and children were around.
He also spoke about his reunion with Mayorkun on “B4 B4”, describing the collaboration as a special moment following Mayorkun’s break from music.

The singer reflected on his experience running DMW, saying he operated the label for four years without taking money from his artistes.
He said he personally funded their music videos, travel and promotions, including during the careers of Mayorkun and Peruzzi.
Davido said his approach was focused on building his artistes rather than making immediate profits from them.
He added that the experience strengthened his desire for greater ownership and control over his music.
He also spoke about his desire to own the masters to his catalogue and build lasting wealth that can be passed down to his children.
Addressing the criticism he regularly receives online, Davido said he remains focused on positivity, personal growth and his music.
He also opened up about the loss of his child and the support he received from his father, brother and sister during the difficult period.
Reflecting on his journey, Davido said his family’s pride in him today gives him the validation he needs, recalling the confidence he had when he left home to pursue music despite his family’s concerns.
