May 23, (THEWILL) – The primary elections of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State held peacefully throughout the state last Sunday, in spite of reports about late arrival of personnel and materials in some parts of the state.
Delegates and officials defied the heavy rain and cold weather to ensure that the primaries were conducted and results turned in so that the party can continue with the conduct of the Senatorial primary as scheduled by today.
Records at the state secretariat of the party as at press time indicated that out of 24 state constituencies, the results of 10 constituencies had been received and only one of the seven federal constituencies had been received and confirmed.
According to the records, Mathew Akawu won in Pengana State constituency of Bassa Local Government Area, while Ibrahim Agbalak won the Rukuba/Irigwe State3 constituency of the same local government area.
Similarly the member representing Ryom State constituency in the House presently, Timothy Dantong won the primary to be re-elected as Member, just as his colleague in Jos North West lost the primary to Azi Danjuma.
Others who won include Philip Jwey for Barkin Ladi State Constituency, Ishaku Maren for Bokkos, Nannim Joseph for Langtang North, Yusuf Atsen for Jos East, the current member representing Jos South, Fom Gwottson.
The result for Barkin Ladi/Ryom Federal Constituency shows that the present House of Assembly member representing Barkin Ladi State constituency, Peter Gyenden, has won the primary to be elected to the House of Reps.
