Wahid Oshodi Elected ITTF’s Executive VP At Federation’s AGM

November 25, (THEWILL) – At the International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) Annual General Meeting (AGM) held yesterday in Houston, Texas, United States of America, Nigerian Wahid Enitan Oshodi won his campaign to become Executive Vice President.

Among the 14 candidates running for the position of Executive Vice Presidents, Oshodi received 116 votes out of 136 total votes cast in the election.

After Segun George, Oshodi is now the second Nigerian elected to the world body, and he will serve with seven other Executive Vice Presidents elected at the AGM.

Petra Sorling of Sweden was elected as the first female President of the ITTF. She was voted unopposed to the presidency of the 95-year-old international federation after being nominated by the Swedish Table Tennis Association and accepted by all 226 member associations around the world.

Alaa Meshref of Egypt was re-elected to the ITTF’s Executive Committee. Africa will now have two representatives in the Committee for the first time.

Graham Symons (Australia), Alaor Azevedo (Brazil), LIU Guoliang (China), Roland Natran (Hungary), Masahiro Maehara (Japan), and Khalil Al-Mohannadi (Qatar) are the other newly elected Vice Presidents.

The ITTF’s new president and the eight newly elected Vice Presidents will join ITTF Athletes Commission Chair Zoran Primorac of Croatia and IOC Member Ryu Seungmin of Korea Republic to create the ITTF Executive Committee.

Oshodi, who is also both a lawyer and an engineer, was elected as the African Table Tennis Federation’s Deputy President earlier this year (ATTF).
