October 25, (THEWILL) – Bournemouth earned a 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday to pile pressure on Michael Carrick after another disappointing performance from the team.
The English manager dropped Bruno Fernandes from the starting line-up after he criticised his selection in the 4-1 defeat to Como on Wednesday in the Champions League.
Rayan opened the scoring for Bournemouth in the 38th minute from a Justin Kluivert free-kick; he was left unmarked and he stabbed home the winner at the near post.
Things went from bad to worse for Manchester United two minutes before the break; Leny Yoro slipped on the edge of the box to allow Adrien Truffert to square for Marcus Tavernier to convert into the empty net.
The Red Devils could not find their way back in the first half as Bournemouth went into the break with a 2-0 lead.
The visitors started from where they left off in the first half when Evanilson’s early goal in the second half was ruled out for offside.
Rayan could only shoot straight at Lemmens when Ayden Heaven made a costly mistake as Manchester United struggled to get going in the encounter.
Evanilson finally got his name on the score sheet with the third goal in the 71st minute, taking advantage of another poor defensive effort from the hosts.
The Brazilian forward beat Lemmens to the ball after he rushed out of his area to poke into an empty net to compound Manchester United’s woes.
The Cherries have enjoyed a great week after a 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday.
They have now won their last four matches in all competitions after struggling to win in their first six matches in the Premier League.
The defeat leaves United 16th in the table with seven points after eight Premier League games, while the Cherries climb to 13th.
The Michael Carrick-led side have now won just two matches out of their last 12 matches in all competitions, failing to win in their last eight.
Manchester United have only kept one clean sheet in all competitions this season against Sabah in the Champions League.
Bournemouth will be back in Premier League action against Leeds United on Saturday, while Manchester United will face Chelsea on the same day.
