September 04, (THEWILL) — Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has announced her latest movie, ‘Bestie’, which is set to arrive in cinemas across Nigeria on December 16, 2026.

Abraham revealed the title and release date in a short video shared with her fans on social media on Friday, September 4.

In the teaser, Abraham revisited some of her previous films, highlighting ‘Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper’, ‘Malaika’, ‘Alakada: Bad and Boujee’ and ‘Oversabi Aunty’ before unveiling ‘Bestie’ as her latest project.

Fans responded with excitement, filling the post with likes, comments and messages ahead of the film’s release.

‘Bestie’ follows the commercial success of ‘Oversabi Aunty’, which Abraham directed, produced and starred in.

The 2025 comedy became the first Nollywood directorial debut to cross the N1 billion mark at the box office.

The success further strengthened Abraham’s profile as both an actress and filmmaker. ‘Oversabi Aunty’ also earned her recognition from the National Film and Video Censors Board after surpassing the N1 billion milestone.

Funke Akindele’s ‘The Four: No One Fights Alone’ is scheduled for release on December 11, five days before ‘Bestie’.

The film features Akindele alongside Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson and Lateef Adedimeji.

For Abraham, the new project comes at a time when expectations around her films remain high. Her previous productions, including ‘Malaika’ and ‘Alakada: Bad and Boujee’, have also attracted significant cinema audiences.
