SAN FRANCISCO, May 08, (THEWILL) – A lone suicide bomber rocked the College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS), Potiskum, Yobe State, Friday morning, injuring seven persons.
The bomber who was killed in the attack was said to have been armed with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and AK47 rifle.
He was said to have stormed the school at about 8am and started shooting sporadically at the gate before forcing his way into the school.
He was said to have continued the shooting until he ran out of bullets.
Sensing that he was about to be apprehended by an irate mob, he quickly detonated the explosives on him.
Confirming the incident, an official of the school told THEWILL that, “The bomber stormed the school around 8am and commenced shooting at a popular arena where he injured several people and later triggered the explosives hidden on him to avoid being caught.”
Sources at the Potiskum General Hospital said seven persons with varying degrees of gunshot injuries were brought in for treatment.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Toyin Gbadegesin, who also confirmed the attack, said the bomber killed himself and injured several others.
He added that the situation had been brought under control.
