August 09, (THEWILL) – The Sokoto State Commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo, has donated the sum of N500,000.00 to the Sultan Muhammadu Maccido Institute for Qur’an and General Studies (SMMIQGS).
The Commissioner, who is a former student and a member of the 2007 chapter of the Old Boys Association, said the contribution demonstrates his commitment to the development of the institution.
He added that the gesture was to support the renovation of the school’s facilities, including hostels, toilets, classrooms, and other essential infrastructure.
The cash donation, according to a statement by Muhammad Abubakar, was made through the Alumni Foundation and was presented personally by the Commissioner to the association’s executives.
“This contribution is my way of giving back to the institution that significantly shaped my life,” Hon. Bashar said while donating the cash.
He also acknowledged that while the donation may be modest, it is part of a broader effort to address the school’s urgent needs.
The Commissioner, however, encouraged fellow alumni and other members of the community to contribute in any way they can to support the school’s needs. He expressed his gratitude to the association for its dedication to this important cause.
Malami Abdullahi, the Secretary-General who represented the Chairman of the association, expressed gratitude and commended the Commissioner’s efforts.
He prayed to God Almighty to continue to guide and protect him towards continued success.
