September 03, (THEWILL) — Comedian and actor Bovi has spoken about the lasting impact veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, had on him during the early stages of his career.

Speaking on the Creativitea podcast about his experience working with RMD, Bovi recalled how he first approached the veteran actor with a movie script.

“I went to sell a movie script to RMD. He said, ‘Look at that corner, what do you see?’ I saw about 100 scripts. He said everybody has a movie script to sell,” Bovi recalled.

Bovi said he insisted that RMD would see the difference if he took the time to read his script. The interaction, he said, eventually led to RMD taking a liking to him.

“He took a liking to me. He never made me feel like ‘na my boy,’” Bovi said.

Although he worked as RMD’s personal assistant, Bovi said the veteran actor gave him the freedom to speak and share his thoughts.

He recalled that RMD’s door was always open to him and that his opinions were taken seriously.

“I was his personal assistant but his door was always open to me. I had an opinion when I spoke to him,” he said.

For Bovi, that openness became one of the most valuable lessons he took from the experience.
