BEVERLY HILLS, April 13, (THEWILL) – Streams of the catalogue of songs belonging to Earl Simmons better known as DMX have increased by 928 percent in the United States after his death.
The rapper, who was aged 50, died last Friday from a “catastrophic heart attack” as a result of a drug overdose.
According to Billboard, MRC (Music Business Worldwide) data indicates that the tracks of the late rapper raked in 75.7 million on-demand streams (audio and video) on April 9 and 10 –-up 928 percent compared to the 7.36 million they gathered on April 7 and 8.
DMX top five most-streamed songs in April 9 and 10 were ‘Ruff Ryders Anthem’ (9.59 million; up 973 percent), ‘X Gon’ Give It To Ya’ (5.79 million; up 900 percent), and ‘Slippin’ (5.52 million; up 853 percent).
Also included are ‘Party Up (In Here)’ (5.20 million; up 941 percent) and ‘How It’s Goin’ Down’ (3.52 million; up 691 percent).
The music of the late rapper increased up until he was announced dead from his hospitalisation on April 2.
Before his death, his songs were streamed between 700,000 and 1 million times daily. Between April 3 and 8, they rose up to 4 million per day.
