September 10 (THEWILL) – Nigerian Afrobeats star Divine Joshua Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made history with his debut album “Rave & Roses” after it reached 200 weeks on the Billboard World Albums chart.
The milestone makes “Rave & Roses” the first African album to reach 200 weeks on the chart, extending its record as the longest-charting African project on the tally.
Released on March 25, 2022, through Jonzing World and Mavin Records, “Rave & Roses” introduced Rema’s Afrorave sound to a wider audience. The album blends Afrobeats with elements of pop and R&B.
The 16-track project features songs including “Calm Down”, “Soundgasm”, “Holiday”, “Charm”, “Time N Affection” featuring Chris Brown and “FYN” featuring AJ Tracey.
One of the biggest factors behind the album’s global success has been “Calm Down”. The song gained a major boost after Rema released a remix featuring Selena Gomez.

The remix became a worldwide hit and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, helping take Rema’s music to a much wider international audience.
The 200-week milestone extends a record Rema set earlier this year.
In February, “Rave & Roses” surpassed Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos”, which had held the record with 164 weeks on the Billboard World Albums chart. Rema’s album had reached 170 weeks at the time, making it the longest-charting African project on the tally.
The latest achievement comes more than four years after the album was released, underlining its lasting appeal and continued presence on the global music scene.
The album has also achieved major success on streaming platforms. In August 2025, “Rave & Roses (Ultra)” became the first African album to surpass three billion streams on Spotify.
The latest Billboard milestone adds to Rema’s growing list of international achievements and further cements “Rave & Roses” as one of the most successful African albums of its era.
