August 10, (THEWILL) — Nigerian Afrobeats star, Rema, has crossed another streaming milestone with his latest single, “TEA,” surpassing one million Spotify streams days after its release on August 7.
The song marks Rema’s first official release of 2026 and opens a new chapter for the singer ahead of his upcoming third studio album.
It made a strong start in Nigeria, recording 468,712 streams on its opening day and debuting at No. 2 on Spotify Nigeria’s Top Songs chart.
Produced by American hitmaker Mustard and Rema’s longtime collaborator London, “TEA” delivers a high-energy sound built around electronic rhythms, African percussion and Rema’s distinctive vocals. Its catchy hook gives the track a strong club and dance appeal.
The single has also gained traction on social media, particularly TikTok, where fans are using the “body like tea” hook in dance videos and other viral content. The activity has helped expand its reach and build momentum around the release.
“TEA” serves as the lead single for Rema’s completed third studio album, which is expected to arrive later this year. Ahead of the release, the singer engaged his fanbase, known as the Ravers, with a mystery campaign linked to the upcoming project, adding to anticipation for his return.
The early performance gives Rema a strong start to his 2026 campaign and further highlights his position as one of the leading names in the global Afrobeats scene.

@OnyekweluIfean6 showed support for the track, writing, “This one is for the girls with TEA bodies.”
@Lauramassotbs also backed Rema, saying, “He is him and we are all gonna make sure this doesn’t flop.”
Another listener, @love4odin, praised both the song and its visual, writing, “Rema shouldn’t jonze on this tea song, the music video is even so perfect!”
However, not every reaction was positive. @CFC_adewale offered a contrasting view, simply commenting, “Flop.”
Despite the mixed opinions, the song’s streaming numbers and growing social media presence point to a strong early response as Rema continues the rollout for his next album.
