Sporting Lagos found the winner through Jacob Aondona in the 83rd minute to seal a vital victory.

The Noisy Lagosians are unbeaten in their last five matches in the NPFL.

Prior to the game, Plateau United had won all their four matches at home in the NPFL.

He said: “I think it was a difficult one for us, I won’t say complacency because the boys put in their very best unfortunately we gave up the lead and things fell apart.

“The only thing is that we had a bad day today but we will take the positives from it to tell us that it’s a lesson for us to brace up.

“Sometimes one game is not enough but they (Sporting Lagos) did very well, they were at their best today.”

The former Enyimba coach urged his players to use the defeat as a wake-up call ahead of their next game against Katsina United on Sunday.

Ogunbote concluded: “This is week nine; unfortunately, nobody wanted to lose the game, but we lost.

“Even a draw would have still been termed as a loss to us. But like I did say it’s good it happened early so that it would make every one of us to wake up, to know that we have not gotten there yet.”

In the other NPFL matches on Sunday, Nasarawa United earned a 2-0 win over Inter Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena at Onikan, Lagos.

Enyimba and Warri Wolves played out a goalless draw at the Aba Township Stadium.

The defeat leaves the newly-promoted club rooted at the bottom of the log with five points from 10 matches.

Next up for Sporting Lagos is a clash against Enugu Rangers in Lagos on Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
