BEVERLY HILLS, October 14, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has withdrawn the nomination of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Niger State, Ahmed Musa Ibeto, as minister of the federal republic.

The President, according to news reports, sent a letter to the senate on Wednesday to inform lawmakers of his decision. The president did not give any reasons for his action, the reports said.

But THEWILL gathered that his withdrawal was due to the nomination of another candidate, Abubakar Bwari, who is also from Niger State.

Ibeto emerged deputy governor of Niger State from 2007-2015. He had served as state chairman and state secretary of the defunct National Republican Party (NRC) in the 90s.

He was also state secretary of the defunct United Nigeria Centre Party (UNCP), as well as the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in the 90s.

In 2003, he served as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Power and later Chairman, House Committee on States and Local Governments.
