August 05, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Saturday, held a Stakeholders meeting in Abuja.
The meeting, which was held at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge, followed a similar one held at the Maitama residence of former Minister of Foreign Affairs under the General Sani Abacha military junta and party chieftain, Chief Tom Ikimi, last Saturday.
In attendance at the meeting include the party’s Presidential candidate in the February 25 poll, Atiku Abubakar; Governors elected on the platform of the party including Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Kefas Agbu (Taraba), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), among others;
Others are members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) including its Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum; the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, as well as other party stakeholders.
A party source, privy to the meeting, told THEWILL that it is part of consultations on the party’s future.
“It’s part of consultations among party leaders to help reposition our party. The truth is that we need to speed up the reconciliation process and strengthen our party for the task ahead.
“Our nation is in trouble and like it or not a majority of Nigerians are looking up to us to lead the way out of the dire situation the All Progressives Congress. APC has forced us into”, the source said.
