April 01, (THEWILL) — Oscar-nominated actress Carey Mulligan has been awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire), one of the UK’s highest honours, by King Charles III at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, March 31, for her services to drama.
She attended the event with her husband, musician Marcus Mumford.
A star of films such as “An Education”, “The Great Gatsby’ and “Drive”, Mulligan said she feels “so unbelievably lucky to get to do a job that I really, really love.
She added: “To have this kind of recognition on top, is just sort of extraordinary to me.”
She was among several figures recognized at the Windsor ceremony, including Hilary McGrady, Sir Tony Radakin, and Valerie Lolomari.
Mulligan, 40, is set to appear in Greta Gerwig’s Netflix adaptation of “The Chronicles of Narnia”, titled “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew”, alongside Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig, and Meryl Streep.
Speaking at Windsor, she described the project as a “dream job”.
Mulligan recently starred in the Bafta-nominated “The Ballad of Wallis Island” and has earned Oscar nominations for her roles in “Maestro” and “Promising Young Woman”.
She previously won a Bafta for her breakthrough performance in “An Education”.
