OPINION: IS RIBADU FIASCO OF 2011 ABOUT TO BE REPEATED?

During the 2011 election cycle Mr. Ribadu who was considered reasonably clean, joined ACN, a Yoruba Party, and won the right to fly its flag as the presidential candidate for ACN. Many of us were surprised because Mr. Ribadu was not Yoruba. When the results of the 2011 elections were announced JEG had trounced Ribadu badly in the SW winning four out of 6 states in the zone and Ribadu won just one. The rumor was that Asiwaju Tinubu had some understanding with JEG. No records ever surfaced to prove the rumor true or false but the fact that ACN swept the states in both gubernatorial and legislative contests made the rumor strong. The fact that Mr. Ribadu joined PDP later did nothing to rebuff the rumor.

I bring this up because once more we have another northerner, Buhari, another supposedly clean man has won the APC presidential nomination and is having a hard time finding an acceptable VP. Is he being set up like Ribadu again? Does this king ride around the square naked because his councilors had told him that he has an invisible clothing and he accepted it? Is this 2011 deja vu all over again? We know that APC has many branches with Tinubu’s party, Buhari’s party and PDP runner-aways as the principle wings. Is this causing a friction in APC? Is Tinubu using Buhari? Does Tinubu have another understanding with JEG?

Inquiring minds want to know.
