Niniola has recently begun returning to live performances and public events. Her new single marks another step in that process as she uses music to honour her late husband while gradually finding her way back to the stage.
August 12, (THEWILL) — Afro-house singer, Niniola Apata, is set to return to music with a new single titled ‘Raining (O Dun Mi)’, following the death of her husband, Michael Ndika.
The song is scheduled for release on Friday, August 14, and marks Niniola’s first major musical outing since Ndika’s death in May.
The singer has described the new record as an outlet for emotions she has struggled to express.
While teasing the song, she wrote, “Some feelings are too deep for words. So I put them in a song.”
The message offers a glimpse into the personal nature of the record, which is dedicated to her late husband.
Niniola announced Ndika’s death in May through a series of emotional posts on Instagram. The announcement also revealed, for the first time, that the singer had been married privately for 13 years.
Ndika was the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview and also served as Niniola’s longtime manager. He played a significant role in both her personal life and career.

Her return to the stage has also reflected the close relationship she shared with Ndika. Beyond being her husband, he was closely involved in her professional journey, making his absence both a personal and career loss.
