Stockbrokers Remain Part Of Process

Although WhatsApp will serve as the interface for accessing the service, investors will still select a stockbroker through which their applications will be processed.

NGX said the arrangement maintains the role of stockbrokers in the investment process while making access to primary-market opportunities more convenient for investors.

The WhatsApp integration forms part of NGX Invest’s wider distribution network, which uses API connectivity to link issuers with more than 100 channels spanning stockbrokers, banks, fintech platforms, mobile operators and other financial institutions.

The model allows investors to access offers through platforms they already use, while giving issuers additional channels through which to reach potential investors.

Digital Access Expands Primary-Market Participation

NGX Group said the initiative is part of its broader strategy of using technology, partnerships and open distribution infrastructure to widen participation in Nigeria’s capital market.

NGX Invest was launched in 2024 as an SEC-approved electronic offering platform for public offers, rights issues and IPOs.

According to NGX Group, the platform has since facilitated more than 23 primary-market transactions and supported over ₦3 trillion in capital raising.

The WhatsApp channel adds another layer to that distribution infrastructure at a time when financial services are increasingly being delivered through digital platforms.

NGX said security remains central to the new investor journey. While WhatsApp provides the interface, subscriptions are processed through NGX Invest’s regulated infrastructure.

The exchange group advised investors to use only the official NGX Invest WhatsApp number and warned against sharing passwords, personal identification numbers, one-time passwords, or other sensitive credentials with third parties.

The move is expected to make the initial discovery and subscription process easier for investors while giving issuers another channel to reach a wider investing public.
