September 22, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) equities market extended its upward movement on Tuesday, with market capitalisation gaining N297bn to close at N162.682tn.
The market opened with a capitalisation of N162.385tn before rising 0.18 percent by the close of trading.
The All-Share Index (ASI) also advanced, opening at 250,156.80 and gaining 457.86 points to close at 250,614.66.
The performance came a day after the market crossed the 250,000-point mark for the first time, with the ASI closing Monday at 250,156.80 and market capitalisation at N162.385tn.
SOVRENINS leads gainers

Sovereign Trust Insurance led the gainers’ chart, rising 9.95 percent (from N2.01 to N2.21).
Consolidated Merchant Bank followed with a 9.82 percent gain (moving from N2.24 to N2.46).
Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals climbed 8.90 percent (from N7.30 to N7.95).
Cadbury Nigeria gained 8.29 percent (advancing from N55.50 to N60.10).
Fortis Global Insurance rose 7.73 percent (from N1.81 to N1.95).
The market recorded 36 gainers during the session.

On the decliners’ side, Multiverse Mining and Exploration led the losses, falling 9.86 percent (from N21.30 to N19.20).
Haldane McCall dropped 9.39 percent (from N3.30 to N2.99).
Champion Breweries declined 8.68 percent (from N10.95 to N10.00).
Mutual Benefits Assurance lost 8.38 percent (falling from N3.82 to N3.50).
Mansard Insurance declined 6.67 percent (from N12.00 to N11.20).
Twenty-six stocks closed lower during the session.
Seplat Energy, Presco, John Holt, Julius Berger and Golden Guinea Breweries were among the stocks that closed flat.
The latest advance follows Monday’s 0.14 percent rise in market capitalisation, when the ASI gained 352.24 points, and the market recorded 39 gainers and 26 losers.
