September 21, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s equities market started the week on a positive note on Monday, with the market capitalisation rising by N228bn to close at N162.385tn as the benchmark All-Share Index crossed the 250,000 level.
Market capitalisation opened at N162.157tn and gained N228bn by the close, while the ASI advanced from 249,804.56 points to 250,156.80 points, representing a gain of 352.24 points.

The session recorded 39 gainers against 26 decliners, indicating a positive breadth as investors took positions across selected stocks.

Top gainers for the session
SUNUASSUR, NASCON lead gainers
SUNUASSUR Insurance led the gainers, rising 10 percent (from N2.80 to N3.08).
NASCON Industries also gained 10 percent (moving from N160 to N176).
OMATEK Ventures (rose from N1.20 to N1.32), also representing a 10 percent increase.
THOMASWY Industries climbed 10 percent (from N2.30 to N2.53).
CMFC advanced 9.80 percent (from N2.04 to N2.24).
The gains came despite declines in several stocks, reflecting a mixed trading session beneath the broader market advance.

Top decliners for the session
OKOMUOIL leads decliners
Okomu Oil Palm Company was the biggest decliner, falling 10 percent (from N1,418 to N1,276.20).
Custodian Investment declined 9.13 percent (from N75 to N68.15).
Sovereign Trust Insurance fell 8.64 percent (from N2.20 to N2.01).
HMCALL dropped 8.33 percent (from N3.60 to N3.30).
ELLAHLAKES shed 5.39 percent (to close at N7.90 from N8.35).
Several major stocks closed unchanged during the session.
MTN Nigeria Communications, Dangote Cement, Seplat Energy, Presco and Julius Berger Nigeria were among the notable stocks that ended the session flat.
Monday’s advance leaves the NGX All-Share Index above the 250,000-point threshold, while the relatively stronger number of gainers compared with decliners points to a broadly positive opening to the week.
