SAN FRANCISCO, June 12, (THEWILL) – A new date has been announced for the 20th National Sports Festival, which was originally meant to take place in March through April 2020 in Benin City, Edo State.
According to the chairman of the 11-man committee set up by the Sports Ministry, Tony Okowa, the new date for the multi-sports competition is October 25 to November 4. He made the announcement Friday in the company of Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, who is the chairman of the Local Organising Committee.
The event, tagged Edo 2020, has its 11-member committee made up of members of the COVID-19 Task Force (NCDC), Ministry of Health, Agency for Disease Control, Commissioners of Sports from the six geo-political zones of the country and representatives of the Sports Ministry.

THEWILL reports that the tournament was previously postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Delta State topped the medals table in the last edition.
