June 20, (THEWILL) – The news of invitation of former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to its Zonal headquarters in Makurdi, the state capital, is generating mixed emotions from members of the public in Makurdi metropolis.
A senior staff of Guma local Government council, who spoke anonymously, alleged that former governor, Ortom, has created a deep vacuum in his life by not paying him salary for 11 months before leaving office.
“It was unfortunate that former governor Samuel Ortom that dropped out of school due to inability to pay fees was telling people to think outside the box.”
A newspaper vendor at High level, Makurdi, said I cannot celebrate Ortom’s woos, while Mr Nomishan Agba asked Ortom to give account of his stewardship.
It is not clear at the moment the nature of invitation extended to former governor, Samuel Ortom.
It was gathered that the former governor had arrived the EFCC Zonal Office in Makurdi at the early hours of the day, in the company of his former Principal Special Assistant on Special Duties, Mr Abraham Kwaghngu and his former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Terver Akase.
Akase, who is now Media Aide to Ortom, could not be reached, as his phone lines were all switched off at the time of this report.
It will be recalled that EFCC, had in a couple of weeks ago, detained the immediate past Chairman of Benue State Universal Primary Education Board (SUBEB), Mr Joseph Utse, who was said to have been in their custody.
