August 28, (THEWILL) — Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye “Soye” Karibi-George, has won the Top Model title for Africa at the ongoing Miss World competition in Vietnam.
Karibi-George secured the continental title on Thursday, August 27, during the Top Model competition held as part of Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII.
The event, themed “Soul of Heritage”, featured contestants from across the four continental regions competing for places in the next stage of the Miss World competition.
Karibi-George emerged ahead of representatives from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa to become Africa’s Top Model.
Her victory secured her an automatic place in the Top 40 quarterfinals of the Miss World 2026 competition, bringing her one step closer to the final stages of the pageant.
She joins the other continental Top Model winners from the Dominican Republic, France and Vietnam, who won for the Americas and Caribbean, Europe, and Asia and Oceania, respectively.
The four continental winners will compete for the overall Top Model title, with the winner earning a direct place in the Top 20 of Miss World 2026.
The remaining places in the Top 40 will be decided through other Miss World challenges, including People’s Choice, Beauty With a Purpose, Head-to-Head and Multimedia.
Karibi-George had earlier competed in the Head-to-Head Challenge, where she reached the African final. Her Top Model victory has now secured her place in the Top 40.

The 26-year-old communications professional from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 on June 6 at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
She won the national title after competing against 19 other finalists and represented Bayelsa State. She succeeded Joy Mojisola Raimi, who represented Nigeria at the previous Miss World pageant and reached the Top 20.
Karibi-George is an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and the founder of Beyond Labels, an initiative that promotes inclusion and empowerment for children with disabilities and special needs.
She also won Miss Africa International 2024 in Accra, Ghana, before becoming Miss World Nigeria.
With her Top Model victory, Karibi-George has secured her place in the Miss World 2026 Top 40 and remains in contention for the crown.
The Miss World 2026 grand finale will take place on September 5 in Vietnam.
