BEVERLY HILLS, August 26, (THEWILL) – Former Super Eagles skipper, John Obi Mikel, scored his first Stoke City goal in their 5-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town in Tuesday’s pre-season friendly match.
Mikel who joined Stoke City on a free transfer earlier this month, made his first start for the club at the club’s Clayton Wood training ground.
The former Chelsea’s midfielder restored the hosts’ lead just before half time after Oakley-Boothe’s opening goal was cancelled by Shrewsbury Town.
The 33-year-old played for 45 minutes before he was replaced by Tom Ince.
The Potters have now returned to winning ways after they lost 1-0 to Burton Albion in their last friendly match.
After this victory, Mikel will be happy to help his team to victory when they play Blackpool for their League Cup fixture at bet365 Stadium on Saturday.
