September 07, (THEWILL) – On Tuesday, a double from French forward, Kylian Mbappe, saw Paris Saint-Germain hold off a comeback from Juventus in the second half to win their opening UEFA Champions League match 2-1.
In the first half at the Parc des Princes, Juve were no match for their opponents as Mbappe scored twice on volleys in the opening 22 minutes.
But eight minutes into the second half, Christophe Galtier’s team made a defensive error that let Weston McKennie bring Juve back into the game.
Although Dusan Vlahovic and Manuel Locatelli came close to bringing the score back even, PSG had enough to hold on for their first competitive victory over Juve.
In the group stage of the UCL, Paris has already won 25 of their last 31 home games. Their next opponent will be Maccabi Haifa, while Juventus will play Benfica.
