September 30, (THEWILL) – Harry Kane rescued a point for Bayern Munich as they came from two goals down to draw 2-2 away at RB Leipzig on Saturday, in the Bundesliga.
Leipzig took an early lead through Lois Openda before doubling their advantage through Castello Lukeba. However, Bayern fought back in the second half, with Kane converting a penalty before Leroy Sane equalised.
Leipzig started brightly and deservedly went 1-0 up on 20 minutes when Openda raced clear to score. Lukeba then headed in a second on 26 minutes to stun the champions. All the efforts of the visitors yielded no goals and Bayern went into half-time trailing by two goals.
The defending champions improved after the break and got back into it when Kane scored a penalty on 57 minutes after a handball was given against Leipzig. Sane then leveled things up in the 70th minute after being played in by Jamal Musiala.
Both sides had chances to win it late on, but a draw was a fair result. The point continues Bayern’s unbeaten start under Thomas Tuchel, but they still trail the top two of Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart in the early stages of the Bundesliga season. Both sides are in UEFA Champions League action in midweek with Leipzig hosting Manchester City and Bayern away at Copenhagen.
