November 17, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich’s Josip Stanisic has tested positive for the coronavirus disease and will be isolated at home away from the rest of the team.
However, Bayern Munich has confirmed that Stanisic is properly vaccinated and in good health.
After earning his senior debut in April, the 21-year-old full-back has established himself in Bayern’s first-team squad. The player joined the youth team aged 16 in early 2017.
This season, Stanisic has made 12 first-team appearances in all competitions, including four starts in the Bundesliga, at both left and right back. When not starting, he has been on the bench for every single first-team game this season.
The player will miss Bayern’s return to club action against Augsburg on Friday due to this positive test. He is also unlikely to play for the rest of the month, depending on when his seclusion began, with Bayern games against Dynamo Kyiv and Arminia Bielefeld looming.
Bayern Munich has been on cruise control in the Bundesliga this season, having won their last four games after suffering a shock defeat at home to Eintracht Frankfurt last month.
They have also been doing well in the Champions League, winning all four of their games so far and qualifying for the last 16 of the competition while scoring 17 goals.
