Jega Retires From INEC, Hands Over To Wali

BEVERLY HILLS, June 30 (THEWILL) – Professor Attahiru Jega has retired as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after five years in the saddle where he supervised two general elections – 2011 and 2015.

Jega formally bowed out day and handed over to new Acting Chairman of INEC,
Ambassador Ahmed Wali, who is a National Commissioner at the commission.

Wali, who is also a Professor of Political Science like Jega, hails from Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
