February 02, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Cross River State, has concluded plans to conduct a mock accreditation with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
The exercise will take place in twelve polling units spread across the state’s three senatorial zones.
The mock accreditation is in furtherance of the technical evaluation of the device, which is part of preparations for the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
Head of Voter Education, INEC, in Cross River State, Anthonia Nwobi, disclosed this in Calabar.
She said that the mock accreditation would help to test the credibility of the BVAS adding that the exercise would help to test the viabilities of both hard and software.
She said, “The exercise will commence at 8:00 am and close at 2:00 pm and only registered voters with Permanent Voter Cards in the respective Polling Units would be eligible to participate in the mock accreditation.”
She appealed to the electorate to abide by the instructions of officials deployed for the exercise for a successful outcome.
The three LGAs where the exercise will be held include Obudu/Ogoja for the northern senatorial district, Boki/Ikom for the Central senatorial district and Calabar Municipality/Bakassi for the southern Senatorial district.
